Dr Kiran Kaushal

MBBS, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Kiran Kaushal is responsible for all of her own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Kiran Kaushal graduated in 1983 and worked in India specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr Kiran moved to Australia in 2001 with her family. She spent the first 5 years working as a General Practitioner in Tully, and then moved to Townsville in 2006.

 

Dr Kiran has now been working as a GP in Townsville for over 10 years and her special interests are Women's Health, Children's Health, Antenatal Care, Indigenous Health, Travel Medicine, Preventative Medicine and Chronic Illness.

 

Dr Kiran is actively involved in teaching and training medical students and GP Registrars.

 

Dr Kiran is fluent in English and Hindi.

Dr Rakesh Kaushal

MBBS, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Rakesh Kaushal is responsible for all of his own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Rakesh Kaushal graduated in 1982 from the prestigious AIIMS College in New Delhi, India. Dr Rakesh has been a medical doctor as part of the Indian Sports team in Asian Games and Olympics. He practiced in Tully for 5 years before he moved to Townsville. He has now been in Townsville for over 15 years.

 

He has special interest in General Medicine, Sports Medicine, Mental Health, Travel Medicine, Employment Medicals, Preventative Medicine, Minor Skin Procedure, Dermatology, Aged Care and Chronic Illness.

 

Dr Rakesh Kaushal is fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi.

 

 

 

Dr Mohamed Rahman

MBBS, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Mohamed Rahman is responsible for all of his own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Mohamed Rahman graduated in 2002 the prestigious Bangalore Medical college, Bangalore University, India. Dr Rahman worked with NHS, United Kingdom before moving to Australia in 2005. He has worked in various multiple specialities in different hospitals in Queensland gaining experience in Emergency, General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Paediatrics. He has been training in Paediatrics for the last 8 years in various hopitals throughout Queensland and been a Registrar at the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane.

 

His areas of special interest includes Childrens health, Women's Health, Chronic Disease Management, Emergency, Old Age Disease and Indigenous Health.

 

He loves to spend time with his family, reading on theology, travelling and landscape photography. 

 

Dr Rahman is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu.

 

 

 

Dr Rahima Deeba Syeda

MBBS, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Deeba Syeda is responsible for all of her own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Deeba Syeda graduated from India in 2005.  She travelled to the UK doing her postgraduate exams before moving to Australia in 2006. While working in Queensland health, she gained experience in Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry and General Medicine.

 

Dr Syeda has also obtained a diploma in child health (DCH) from Westmead Hospital in Sydney.  Along with a clinical diploma in Palliative Medicine through RACP.

 

Dr Syeda has been a fellow with the Royal College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) since 2014.

 

Apart from a working career she is an enthusiastic mother of young children and enjoys push bike riding and cooking.

 

Dr Syeda is fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi.

 

 

 

Dr Sheharyar Ashraf

MBBS, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Sheharyar Ashraf is responsible for all of his own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Sheharyar Ashraf trained and graduated from Pakistan in 2009. He worked as a general practitioner in Pakistan for 4 years before moving to North Queensland. Dr Ashraf joined Riverway Medical Centre in 2014.

 

Although Dr Ashraf has a broad patient base, his special interests are Mental Health, Geriatric Medicine, Men's Health, Preventative Medicine, Skin Cancers, Chronic Illness and Geriatrics. Dr Ashraf regularly does home visits for elderly patients as well as visits to Residential Aged Care. Outside of medicine, Dr Ashraf enjoys sports and loves to travel throughout Australia.

 

Dr Ashraf is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu.

 

 

 

Dr Oladele Johnson Kazum

MBBS, DTM&H, DPH, FCFP, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Johnson Kazum is responsible for all of his own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Kazum is a well known GP in Townsville and he has been practicing in the Kirwan area since 2008.

 

He is a former department head of Orthopaedic, Ermelo Hospital in South Africa and former Medical Superintendent at Cloncurry Hospital, Qld.  He brings with him a wealth of experience in GP with special interest in skin; Paediatrice cases; mental health; minor surgical procedures and chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

 

He is also a big fan of The Cowboys and a strong passion for soccer and Formula 1. Being happily married with 3 children.

 

Dr Kazum is fluent in English, African Languages, Yoruba and Zulu.

 

 

 

Dr Maria Farrukh

MBBS, FRACGP

 

 *As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Mari Farrukh is responsible for all of her own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr. Maria Farrukh is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner with a diverse medical background. After obtaining her degree from Punjab Medical College, University of Health Sciences Pakistan in 2005, she embarked on a journey to make a positive impact in healthcare.

Before transitioning to General Practice in 2021, Dr. Farrukh honed her skills during a 2-year tenure at Townsville Hospital, where she gained invaluable experience in various fields, including Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Medical Oncology, and Geriatrics, among others.

In her pursuit of excellence, Dr. Farrukh completed her fellowship with the esteemed Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in February 2023. This accomplishment further solidified her commitment to providing the highest standard of care to her patients.

Dr. Farrukh's passion lies in several areas of healthcare, and she takes a special interest in Women's and children's health, Antenatal care, Skin cancers and minor skin procedures, Chronic disease management, Indigenous Health, Immunisations, including Q fever and Yellow Fever vaccines, Mental Health, Family medicine, Skin checks, Minor skin procedures.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Dr. Farrukh cherishes spending time with her family and her cat. She is a loving mother and wife. She values the company of her friends and enjoys reading books and preparing delicious Pakistani cuisine.

Dr. Farrukh is fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi.

 

 

 

Dr Aaron Santos

Doctor of Medicine (MD), FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Aaron Santos is responsible for all of his own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Aaron Santos, 'Doc Aaron' is an experienced doctor who graduated medical school in one of the top hospitals in the Philippines (St. Luke's Medical Center). He moved to Australia in 2011 and worked at the Townsville Hospital where he spent a few years. He gained experience in different departments: Emergency, Cardiology, Orthopaedics and Geriatrics to name a few.

 

With almost 10 years of experience he joined Riverway Medical Centre in 2014 and since then has enjoyed practicing as a GP. His special interests are Cardiology, Paediatrics, Mental Health, Men's Health, Sexual Health and Emergency Medicine. Dr Santos does home visits for elderly patients as well as visits to Residential Aged Care. With a holistic approach and a friendly attitude he has gained not only patients but most importantly friends as well.

 

Welcomed by a big Filipino community, a great Medical Centre that he now refers to as 'Family' and blessed with a loving young family, he has found Townville as a new home. He promises to share his blessings by helping his patients with the best of his abilities.

 

Dr Santos is fluent in English and Tagalog (Filipino).

 

 

 

Dr Ambreen Samir

MBBS, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Ambreen Samir is responsible for all of her own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Ambreen Samir graduated from Pakistan in the year 2000. She has over 10 years of experience working as a General Practitioner in Pakistan. She moved to Australia in 2015 and has since been working as a GP at Riverway Medical Centre. Dr Ambreen has a broad interest in all facets of General Practice. She particularly enjoys caring for individuals and families over the whole spectrum of life. Her special interests are Women's Health, Children's Health, Preventative Medicine, Indigenous Health and Chronic Illness.


When away from work, Dr Ambreen enjoys spending time with her young family, and her hobbies include reading medical research/articles, interior decoration, cooking and baking.

 

Dr Ambreen is fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and Saraiki.

 

 

 

Dr Jamila Balchand

Doctor of Medicine (MD), FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Jamila Balchand is responsible for all of her own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Jamila Balchand is a graduate of the Davao Medical School Foundation in the Philippines (2004). She moved to Australia in 2014 and she brought with her over 10 years of experience as a Doctor. Dr Jamila has specialist interest in Women's Health, Children's Health, Antenatal Care, Sexual Health, Mental health, Indigenous Health, Preventative Medicine, Travel Medicine and Chronic Illness. Dr Jamila has a pleasant personality and is a favorite of many.

 

Dr Jamila is fluent in English, Tagalog (Filipino) and Visayan.

 

Important Notice: Effective from 6th March 2023, Dr Jamila Balch has advised she will be transitioning to mixed-billing. She will continue to bulk bill for the following appointments:

2. Concession and Pension card holders

3. Care Plans (Mental Health & EPC)

5. Flu immunisations (where no other matter is discussed)

6. Indigenous Health check

Dr Dilum Rangama

MBBS, FRACGP

 

*As an Independent Practitioner, Dr Dilum Rangama is responsible for all of her own medical and health care services at Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Dr Dilum Rangama graduated from the faculty of medicine in university of Peradeniya, in Sri Lanka in 2001. Ever since, she has been continuously working as a general practitioner and medical officer in diverse medical fields such as Community Medicine including research and publications, Medical administration, Neonatal ICU, Anesthesiology back in Sri Lanka until she move to Australia in 2019.

 

Mental health is her special interest and she obtained the accreditation to practice focus practice strategies in Psychology on her patients in general practice in Australia.

 

Medicine itself is her passion with interest in every corner of the medical field. She enjoy learning new things in advancing medicine.

 

With cumulative twenty two years of continuous medical practice invariable communities and patients in different medical needs she is further motivated to serve the community towards better health and wellbeing.
