Our Practice:

Riverway Medical Centre was founded by Dr. Rakesh Kaushal and Dr. Kiran Kaushal in 2010. We have since continued to expand and develop into our current Modern, Family friendly patient centred Medical Centre, whilst remaining a Bulk Billed practice for patient convenience. Over the years, we have diligently served the community and developed a strong bond with each of our patients, who will attest to our high quality of care. We give utmost importance to Medical Education and Competence, and are affiliated with James Cook University.

 

Riverway Medical Centre is conveniently located opposite Willows Shopping Centre. We are fully accredited and staffed by male and female General Practitioners who are available 7 days a week. We prioritise your care and convenience at every step. In doing so, our friendly staff will accept and assist you in making phone/online appointments or accomodate you if you chose to just walk-in.

 

To walk you through our practice, we are a large medical centre with Procedural/Treatment rooms, fully equipped modern consult rooms, state of the art technology for monitoring/recalling patients, on-site pathology and visiting allied health professionals. There is ample free easy parking for our patients at the front of our Centre.

 

Our friendly team of Doctors, Nurses, Receptionists and Allied health are always available for giving the best possible care to you and your loved ones.

Pathology:

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is next door to Riverway Medical Centre and accessible from inside of Riverway Medical Centre.

 

Monday - Friday: 07:30am - 07:00pm

Saturday: 08:00am - 12:00pm

 

Radiology:

I-Med Radiology Network is located next door to Riverway Medical Centre. They offer X-RAY, CT, MRI, OPG, Bone Density Scan and Ultrasound. 

 

Monday - Friday: 08:30am - 05:00pm

 

Allied Health Services:

Here at Riverway Medical Centre, we have a visiting Dietitian and Diabetic Educator who are able to assist you in your personal health. If you would like to see other allied health professionals, please speak to one of our Doctors.

 

Appointments:

Where possible, we will always try to ensure that we can find a suitable appointment time with your preferred doctor.

 

Please be aware that emergencies will be given priority, if this situation should occur when you are scheduled to attend the practice and there is an extended delay then our staff will ensure every effort is made to contact you and make alternative arrangement.

 

Please note: As we are a bulk billing medical practice, a valid medicare card needs to be sighted at the time of your appointment.

 

Information you supply:

For new patients, we will ask that you complete a new patient form prior to your consultation. To ensure optimal patient care, we request that you inform us of your cultural background.

 

Please inform us of any changes to your personal information on subsequent visits to us, such as change of contact or Medicare details, address or emergency contact.

 

Results:

When we receive significant abnormal test results, our staff will contact you to arrange a follow up appointment.

 

Results cannot be given over the phone and we advise that a follow up consultation for results is scheduled with your Doctor.

 

Health Information:

Patients of our practice have the right to access their personal health information under the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.  On request for access to personal health information, our practice documents each request and endeavours to assist patients in granting access.  There may be charges involved in providing copies of all or part of your records.  Information may not be available immediately, please allow a minimum of four (4) working days for an access time to be arranged or information to be collated and copied.

 

Communication:

Receiving and returning telephone calls/email - a message is taken unless clinically necessary to interrupt a consultation and all messages are passed on to appropriate recipient either manually or via e-mail. The recipient will return telephone calls/emails to contact you at their earliest convenience.

 

Repeat Prescriptions:

You will need to see your General Practitioner in order to get a repeat prescription.

 

Referrals to specialists cannot be written without a consultation.

 

Afterhours Care:

Riverway Medical Centre provides afterhours telephone advice for current patients of the practice on 0409 804 251.

 

Your rights:

If you have a problem, we would like to hear about it. Please feel free to talk to your doctor or receptionist. You may prefer to write to us or use our suggestion box. We take your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously. However, if you wish to take the matter further and feel that you need to discuss the matter outside of the surgery, please phone Office of the Health Ombudsman on 133 OHO (133 646) or by email info@oho.qld.gov.au
